Residential Carpentry, From Rot Repair to Trim
Most of our residential carpentry is exterior wood repair. Wood rot repair on porch trim,
window sills and the boards closest to the ground. Wood railing repair when a rail has
loosened or a baluster has split. Trim carpentry where old trim has rotted out and needs a
new piece cut to match.
Deck boards, treads and posts are part of our deck restoration work,
so a deck that needs both repair and a fresh stain gets handled as one job. Small fixes that
are not really wood work, like a sticking door, go to our
handyman crew.
Old Farmhouse Trim and Other Common Carpentry Jobs
The stone farmhouses around Richlandtown and Springtown often still have their original
wood trim, and a lot of it has been painted over so many times that the rot underneath went
unnoticed. Newer homes have their own problems: builder-grade railings that loosen, and
porch skirting that sits too close to wet ground.
On log homes and cedar siding, we wash, strip the old finish, caulk the holes that need it,
and apply two coats of stain with a pesticide solution to keep the wood protected.
